A survey of 14,000 serving officers in England and Wales showed that only 0.1% of those surveyed felt the Coalition offered the Service support.  The results also showed that 56% had recently considered leaving the Force. Lord Stevens in an interview with the Telegraph at the time of the results being released stated that “we have a national crisis of morale which threatens to undermine the work our officers are doing. If we’re asking men and women to put their lives on the line to protect us, then I think they should know they’ve got the full support of the Government. These results show that they do not perceive this to be the case.”
