Lord Stevens joined Nick Ferrari for a radio phone-in hosted by LBC Radio on 20 March 2012. The phone-in provided the Commission with an opportunity to learn exactly what members of the public consider key in addressing the future of policing in England and Wales and there was no shortage of opinions. Indeed, the numbers of people wanting to have their say was so great that, even with a dedicated 45-minute slot, we were not able to hear from everyone. Happily, many of those who, for reasons of time, were unable to comment on air, have since submitted their comments and opinions via the website.
Following the phone-in Lord Stevens said the exercise had proved to form a crucial part of the work of the Commission and, he added, he has high hopes this will prove to be the first of many such phone-ins repeated up and down the country.
